Dutch Mill Catering is committed to creating a cleaner, greener environment, by reducing our carbon footprint. We are a part of the EPA’s Green Power Partnership, as a member of the local Green Power Community (GPCs), running on 100% wind power purchased from Clean Currents.  We are also committed to only using fresh local produce in all of our recipes. In addition to supporting the local economy, locally produced foods travel a shorter distance from farm to plate and use less fossil fuel, resulting in a fresher, more flavorful product.  We are committed to following environmentally responsible practices, such as recycling, reducing, and reusing wherever possible. These commitments help your event be both easier to manage and more environmentally sustainable, reducing your event impact.

Some of our specific “Green” Commitments:

  • Prepare dishes with local and/or organic ingredients.
  • Provide products that are certified as “fair-trade” (e.g. coffee).
  • Provide reusable platters, tableware and/or serving dishes.
  • Provide an approved biodegradable alternative that will be composted, if requested.
  • Serve dishes “family style” to avoid individually packaged products (e.g. sandwich platters, large salad bowls).
  • Provide on-site recycling of paper, plastics, metal, and glass.
  • Reduce paper usage, reuse office paper.
  • Use renewable energy and/or energy efficient appliances.
  • Turn off all equipment when not in use. It is completely unnecessary to leave electrical equipment, such as computers on standby.
  • Recycle old equipment, use and pass on reconditioned equipment.
  • We are 100% wind powered!

Tips For Going Green at Your Event!

  • Make it easy to recycle. Place a recycling container next to every garbage can. Label the containers with prominent signs.
